Gov. Tim Walz
Vice President
Tim Walz is Minnesota’s 41st Governor. He was first elected Governor in 2018 and won re-election in 2022. Accomplishments from his time as Governor include providing universal free school meals for students, protecting reproductive freedom, strengthening voting rights, laying the groundwork to get Minnesota to 100% clean electricity by 2040, cutting taxes for the middle class, and expanding paid leave for Minnesota workers. Prior to becoming an elected official, Tim was a social studies teacher that also helped coach the Mankato West football team that won the school’s first state championship. He is also a veteran. After 24 years in the Army National Guard, Command Sergeant Major Walz retired from the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion in 2005. Tim won his first election to the United States House of Representatives in 2006 and was re-elected for another five terms serving Minnesota’s First Congressional District in Southern Minnesota.

Elaine Marshall made history in 1996 as the first woman elected to a statewide executive branch office in North Carolina. Her reforms include lobbying law updates and enhancing transparency. Her office now protects against fraud, recovering over $1 billion from Wall Street firms. Elaine's accolades include serving as President of the National Secretaries of State, receiving the Lillian’s List Courage Award, and being inducted into the National 4-H Hall of Fame. A Campbell University law graduate, she began her career defending domestic violence victims and co-founded a Rape Crisis Center.

Smith Reynolds Foundation, and school board attorney. He led Guilford County Schools and has held key roles at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Mo aims to fully invest in public education, enhance community and parental support, and ensure safe learning environments for students. Jon Berger is a candidate for North Carolina State Representative, District 20, after retiring from nearly 30 years with the U.S. Government, the last 21 as a U.S. Diplomat. He first served as a legislative aide for a U.S. Representative and a U.S. Senator, and then as a Foreign Service Officer with assignments in various countries, culminating with a position at Marine Special Operations Command at Camp Lejeune. Jon has received numerous meritorious awards for his work. He is a board member of Creating Friendships for Peace, a peace-building organization, and volunteers with the North Carolina Heroes Fund, a veterans service organization. Jon lives in Wilmington with his wife, Liz, and their daughters, Lillian and Eve.

Rebecca Zimmer Donaldson
New Hanover County District Attorney
Rebecca Zimmer Donaldson was born and raised in New Hanover County. After being a prosecutor in New York City, she moved back to Wilmington with her husband, a former police officer, driven by her desire to serve her hometown. Rebecca has tried a wide array of cases - from property crimes to financial crimes, rapes, and murders. Rebecca played a pivotal role in North Carolina's first cold case rape trial under the Survivor Act, earning the 'Service Above Self' award. Now a candidate for District Attorney, Rebecca plans to fight and prevent crime by aggressively prosecuting violent crime while also supporting initiatives addressing homelessness, mental health, and substance use disorders in our community. She believes we must do both effectively in order to keep us safe. Rebecca lives in Wilmington with her husband and two daughters.

April Farr
New Hanover County Register of Deeds
April Farr is honored to be running for New Hanover County Register of Deeds, and she wants nothing more than to use her expertise in operations, organization, finance, and inclusion to ensure that county services are accessible and equal for all. After leaving Wilmington as a child, April returned home to attend UNCW, where she studied criminal justice, Spanish, and public administration and where she was later employed in the Office of Institutional Diversity & Inclusion for nearly a decade. During this time, she served as a lead presenter at the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity, organized Cape Fear Minority Enterprise Development Week and the DNA Projects, trained Safe Zone Allies, provided budget oversight, and attended more than 50 trainings and workshops related to finance, DEI, and Human Resources. Along with a long history of local community service she also held leadership roles as the Director of Operations for the Future is Now Coalition and as treasurer for City Councilman David Joyner’s campaign.

Judge Ricardo Jensen
NC Superior Court Judge
Judge Ricardo Jensen practiced as a public defender for ten years before Governor Roy Cooper appointed him to be a Superior Court Judge on February 9, 2024. With a rich cultural heritage, Judge Jensen is the first Hispanic Superior Court judge in New Hanover and Pender Counties. He believes that our judiciary is just as important as any other elected official, because if we want to ensure reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, or workers' rights are codified in statutes, then we need a judiciary who understands the importance of those rights. Judge Jensen was a fierce advocate of basic rights as a public defender, and he continues to safeguard those rights in his courtroom.
